I was always drawing.
As long as I had a crayon, a pencil, or a pen - I was sketching onto whatever surface I got my hands on.
At 3 years old, much to my grandma's dismay, I was scribbling stick figures on her living room walls. Already, I was showing the passionate and rebellious traits of an artist!
An alumni of New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, with a specialization in Women's Active Sportswear. It was 1999 and I was eager to start my fashion career. I began as a technical designer for women's wovens. Soon, I branched out into the men's and childrenswear technical departments. My days comprised of leading fit sessions, spec writing, and collaborating with patternmakers for the perfect fit. I enjoyed constructing a garment from scratch, but I still felt a creative void. I simply wanted to draw and express them onto media.
I taught myself the CAD programs popular in the industry and eventually worked as print designer for various brands along Seventh Avenue. I began freelancing for print houses and was committed to perfecting my fabric styling skills. I had befriended many seasoned textile artists during my freelancing days. Their combined mentoring gave me solid knowledge of the craft. I am thankful to have worked alongside great talent.
Ready for a change, I left the apparel scene and moved to the home textile market. To compliment my interior design interests, I completed a course in home staging and became an accredited home stager in 2009. As an interior design enthusiast, switching to the home design industry was the best move for me. I am glad to have found my niche and am now reveling in the countless possibilities!
Future projects of mine will focus on producing original home textiles. I am currently geared into creating specialized collections tailoring to interior designers and their clients. My focus includes new prints for home linens, upholstery, and wallpaper. I cater to any style - classic and modern - with a fresh and whimsical approach.
Ordinary or grand, if it catches my eye, I am easily inspired. Art truly is all around. One must just stop to appreciate even the smallest details in the everyday. Furthermore, I am inspired by my children and their carefree spirit. I remember myself as a girl and my love for simply drawing. I am just as passionate in everything I design today.
Stay tuned as I will be adding more of my work, my insights and everyday likes to this visual diary I've started. Please drop me a message if you would like to collaborate, I welcome all new inquiries!
